CBSE Class 10 Grading Systems

The Central Board of Secondary Education has introduced a new grading system for Class 10 students. The new nine-point scale grading system will require students to get qualifying grades in 4 out of 5 subjects to get promoted to next higher class. The grading system will adopt a five-point scale, which means awarding students grades from A to E. This will eliminate the schools from showing raw scores on the evaluation report of each student.

The qualifying marks in each subject of external examination shall be 33% . However at Senior School Certificate Examination,in a subject involving practical work, a candidate must obtain 33% marks in the theory and 33% marks in the practical separately in addition to 33% marks in aggregate, in order to qualify in that subject.

CBSE 10th Result 2020: Re-checking and Re-evaluation

For those students who were expecting a better CBSE Result 2020 Class 10, the Board will announce the option of re-checking and re-evaluation of the Board Exam Papers. In the rechecking process, CBSE will re-tally and re-calculate the marks awarded to the students for different questions. Similarly, during the re-evaluation process, the entire answer sheet for CBSE 10th Result 2020 will be re-checked by an independent examiner. The re-checking and re-evaluation process followed by the CBSE Board allows students to clarify doubts with regards to their performance in the CBSE 10th Results 2020.

Merit Certificates for CBSE Results

(i) The Board will award Merit Certificates in each subject to the top 0.1 % of candidates passing that subject, provided that they have passed the examination as per the pass criteria of the Board.

(ii) The number of Merit Certificates in a subject, will be determined by rounding of the number of candidates passing the subject to the nearest multiple of thousand. If the number of candidates passing a subject is less than 500, no merit certificate will be issued.

(iii) In the matter of a tie, if one student gets a Merit Certificate, all candidates getting that score will get the Merit Certificate.
